Palimpsest
Palimpsest (pāl'ĭmp-sěst') A manuscript that has been written on more than once, with the earlier writing incompletely erased and often legible. This wonderful word seems to perfectly describe altered books, and particularly my Reliquary Journal. As a lover of books and words, I had to share.
My reading today, Orvieto Dust, is pulling me ever so gently away from Marie Antoinette (but only momentarily) and further back in time. I am feeling so distracted by many things in my life currently, but most particularly by my plans to teach in Orvieto in September of 2009 (only 19 months to go). I know I need to get re-focused on my fashion theatre. Oh there are so many wonderful avenues to explore and so little time. But, my back is feeling so much better and come Monday morning, I will be back in Rose Bertin mode.

Welcome back to the land of feeling better!!! And thank you for your blog visit. Our cafe is in Fountain Hills.....and on our little man made lake (pond) is a huge fountain...and there is a balloon lift off Every Feb. Nothing as large as New Mexico.

Catherine, I'm so happy you are feeling better and have your workshop in Italy to dream about. If your little theater and Marie have to take a backseat for a little while, what a wonderful diversion to take their place. Your journal is beautiful! xox

What stunning pages! I love all the layering, colors, and images. So glad to hear that your back is doing better. I am still pondering over my theater, but I have purchased my base and am just about ready to dive in. Wish me luck (this is definitely out of my comfort zone).

It would be impossible not to think of Italy when you mind is filled with the joy of knowing you are going there to teach. I truly believe that creativity needs a rest now and then -- from one project to the next -- so that the inspiration remains fresh and rejuvenated all the time.
